BBC Radio Four's All in the Mind programme this week included a discussion of the "happiness" programme at Wellington College. The term "happiness" here is somewhat misleading; what is really being taught here is resilience training based on the work of the “father of Positive Psychology”, Professor Martin Seligman. The basic idea behind resilience training is to equip children with thinking skills to help them to overcome adversity and hurdles in life. Being Optimistic is the answer.
